New Rules for Residence Life

The Department of Residence life has made some changes to their rules for students living in the residence halls or the apartments on campus at Texas Lutheran University. These rules were implemented to make the residents’ stay at TLU livable as well as giving students a clear guideline of what they can and can’t do and clear all the grey areas of what the Residence Life rules actually are. Brian Ford, Area Coordinator of the North Halls and Apartments said, “I think the new rules clearly outline our policiesLast year, I could see where some students would be a little confused by some of the policies, but this year I believe they are more defined.”
When looking at the new rules, a lot of the fines seem to be more than they were last year. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? “Once you let a student know that their actions could have a monetary repercussion, you do not see too many of those violations occur,” said Ford. Therefore, there will be less violations of Residence Life rules and policies and then allows students to have a better stay in the residence halls and apartments. “The new rules have been beneficial because as I talk to students in the halls, they know what they are facing if they break a rule. They take it upon themselves to warn their peers of what may occur if they break the rules.  The new rules really hold the students accountable for their actions,” said Ford.
